Here's an interesting article that appeared in "The Nation" about the accusations against Kundera that shows the tyranny of reputation-shredding works in all political systems from totalitarianism to capitalism.I love what Kundera was quoted as saying about Bohumil Hrabel in this piece as well.
There's also a bit in here about Cerny's Entropa. Why is it only the Czechs seem to get Cerny's humor? I think Entropa is wonderful but it seems the rest of the world can't take a joke. Geez, lighten up.

It seems that author of linked article loves Kundera and she idolize him. Her view on communist period is also interesting, I guess she is very young.
Influence of communist past to Czechs should be compared with influence of Nazi regime to Germans. We cannot be blind about it, even if it's painful.
I heard that Kundera is very popular author in USA. Fact is that he isn't so much in Czech Republic
Eso, I haven't seen you around for ages! Welcome back. Kundera is VERY popular in America; he is the one Czech author all of the literati know and read. That's why I go on and on about Bohumil Hrabel, because he deserves to be known and read too.

There are so many Czech authors that are great! Another one of my favorites is Capek (chapek)! The Tales from Two Pockets are wonderful...along with his other works!
