Original Thinking in Olomouc: A Grain Silo Reborn
The New York Times featured a very interesting home in Olomouc, Czech Republic today. It looks like a beautiful home to live in and look out of; Olomouc is said to be very old and very beautiful so I can just imagine how breathtaking it is to see the entire city from above.
I wonder if the neighbors feel this home is as beautiful to look at as look out of? Regardless, I have to give it to this family for original thinking. Click on my title to read the article and see the slide show of their home.

In the States, they have a show on Home and Garden Television (HGTV) called Extreme Homes. This would definitely fit into that category...That is recycling to the extreme...Thanks for sharing!
Interesting house! Unusual to say the least (for that area, anyway)! I clicked on your title and read the article. Most interesting to me were the stories that circulated around about his garage for expensive cars, swimming pool inside the silo and his son's creative (?) job to pay for it all! I was married to an architect once and know the way people think when they don't understand new and creative ideas! Ha, ha. Thanks for the trip to Olomouc....looking forward to more pictures....

I'am passing that amazing structure everyday on my way to campus and back - the only think I find weird is that the owner never seem to be home. It's always dark in there and it seems to be kinda deserted :)
Anyway it must be amazing to live in such an eagle's nest.
The Olomouc is a historic and beautiful city. It has a lot of attractions and activities for visitors. The architecture is so magnificent.
That house is outside the historic city centre; there's a park on one side, the old bus station on a another and major intersection next to that. There aren't really any residential neighbours except in the fourth direction, and they're far enough away that I doubt they'd be bothered.
On the other hand, people can be fairly petty when their neighbours are involved so who knows...;-)
Captain Oddsocks, I think this is my first ever comment from you. Yea! I love your blog and was just rereading one of my favorite entries this morning. Keep coming back! I'm honored.
I'm honoured likewise, Karen. *bows deeply* :-)
