Czech Women Seek Horrifying Plastic Surgery

How great can culture shock be when you become an expat?  I didn't actually hear about this in the Czech Republic, instead coming across the article in American news and opinion aggregator "The Huffington Post." Regardless, it's jaw-dropping.  We have a word for this in English: it's 'misogyny.'  But since these ladies are doing this to themselves, maybe it falls under the category of 'self-hatred' or 'body dysmorphic disorder?'  Click on my title to read the article (not suitable for work or minors).

This is so scary! I'm sure it probably happens around here, too. Korean culture is so obsessed with perfect looks and plastic surgery, it makes me sad. I recently learned that many of my 11th grade girls will have plastic surgery in the next few months so that they can be "beautiful" for their senior yearbook photos next year. =(

Well, article doesn't state that these patients are (only) Czech.

Czech republic is very popular abroad for its affordable plastic surgery and I know for fact, that many American women come to CR for plastic surgery.

Fair enough, Eso. By the way, it is always nice to see you drop by my blog.

It's quite sad if/when women are getting their cues from porn, of all places. Hello, very little is real in that world. There was a popular porn star recently (can't recall her name) who caused a stink amongst her male fans when she did a full frontal on HBO's Entourage (I think...) with a 'fro. She responded with a tweet, telling her detractors: "Get a life. This is what real women look like...." It's bad enough that porn disconnects men from what authentic or natural sexuality looks or feels like, it's sad when women allow it to happen to them as well.
